Screen Mirroring App Tutorials

How to mirror a Chromebook to a Roku

A Roku has no web browser, so it works a little differently from a smart TV. Because a Chromebook can run Android apps, you can install the Roku edition on it, add a small free channel to your Roku, and stream straight to it.

Quick answer

To mirror a Chromebook to a Roku, install the free Screen Mirroring for Roku app from the Play Store on the Chromebook. Use it to add the free Screen Mirroring channel to your Roku, then connect by scanning the QR code or entering the Roku's IP address, and start.

  • A Chromebook with the Google Play Store
  • A Roku TV, stick or box
  • Both on the same Wi-Fi network

FAQ

Common questions about mirroring a Chromebook to a Roku

Do I need to install anything on the Roku?

Yes, a free Screen Mirroring channel that the app helps you add from the Roku Channel Store. Roku has no web browser, so this channel is the receiver.

The app cannot connect to my Roku. What now?

Roku blocks control from apps by default. On the Roku go to Settings, System, Advanced system settings, Control by mobile apps, and set Network access to Enabled or Permissive, then try again.

What if my Chromebook has no Play Store?
