How to screen mirror a Windows PC or laptop to a TV

A Windows PC has three ways to get its screen onto a TV. Windows + K mirrors to TVs and sticks that support Miracast. Chrome casts to a Chromecast or Google TV. For every other TV with a web browser, the web sender shares your screen straight from the browser, with nothing to install.

Quick answer

On Windows 11 or 10, press Windows + K and select your TV. That works with TVs and sticks that support Miracast, such as many Samsung, LG, Sony and Android TVs, Roku and Fire TV. For a Chromecast, cast from Chrome. For any other TV with a web browser, open tvee.app on the TV, open tvee.app/start on the PC, enter the six character code and click Share.

  • A Windows 11 or 10 PC or laptop
  • A TV with Miracast or Chromecast, or a TV with a web browser
  • The same Wi-Fi, or the internet for the web sender

Pick your method

Which method works with your TV

Samsung, LG, Sony and Android TVs

Many of these TVs accept Miracast: press Windows + K and select the TV. They also have a web browser, so the web sender is your backup when the TV does not show up in the list.

Roku

Roku accepts Miracast from Windows: turn on screen mirroring on the Roku (Settings, System, Screen mirroring), then press Windows + K. Roku has no web browser, so the web sender cannot reach it.

Fire TV

Turn on Display Mirroring on the Fire TV, then press Windows + K. Or open tvee.app in the Silk browser and use the web sender, as in the computer to Fire TV guide.

Chromecast and Google TV

Use Chrome on the PC. Click the More menu, then Cast, save, and share, then Cast. Choose Sources, then Cast screen, and pick your device.

Xbox

Open the Wireless Display app on the Xbox, then press Windows + K on the PC and select the Xbox.

Apple TV

Apple TV only accepts AirPlay, which Windows does not send (see AirPlay vs Chromecast vs Miracast). Mirror to a different TV, or open the receiver in the browser of any nearby screen.

Older smart TVs and game consoles

Anything with a web browser can be the receiver. Use the web sender steps below. For consoles, see the PS5 and PS4 guides.

Step by step

Mirror a Windows PC to any TV with the web sender

Open the receiver on the TV

On the TV, open the web browser and go to tvee.app. A six character code and a QR code appear.

Open the web sender on the PC

On the PC, open Chrome, Edge or Firefox and go to tvee.app/start.

Enter the code

Type the six character code shown on the TV and click Connect.

Choose your screen and share

Choose Desktop Screen, pick Entire Screen, a window or a browser tab, and click Share. For sound, tick Also share system audio.

Your PC appears on the TV

Your PC screen now shows on the TV. Stop sharing from the sender when you are done.

Firefox cannot send sound. If it will not connect, try the troubleshooter or test your Wi-Fi speed.

Mirror with Windows + K (Miracast TVs)

Turn on the TV, press Windows + K and select the TV from the list, then follow any steps on the screen. You can also search for Cast in Windows and select Connect to a wireless display. To use the TV as a second screen instead, press Windows + P and choose Extend.

FAQ

Common questions about mirroring a Windows PC to a TV

How do I mirror my PC to my TV with Windows + K?

Turn on the TV, press Windows + K and select the TV from the list. This works with TVs and sticks that support Miracast. You can also search for Cast in Windows and select Connect to a wireless display.

Why is my TV not listed after Windows + K?

The TV must support Miracast, and some TVs and sticks only appear after you turn on screen mirroring in their settings. If the TV still does not appear, use the web sender. It works with any TV that has a web browser, even over the internet.

Can I mirror a Windows PC to a Chromecast?

Yes. In Chrome, click the More menu, then Cast, save, and share, then Cast. Choose Sources, then Cast screen, and pick your Chromecast or Google TV.

Can I mirror a Windows PC to an Apple TV?

Not directly. Apple TV only accepts AirPlay, which Windows does not send. Mirror to a different TV or open the receiver in the browser of any nearby screen.

Can I use the TV as a second screen for my PC?

Yes. After you connect with Windows + K, press Windows + P and choose Extend. With the web sender, follow the wireless second screen guide, which uses an HDMI dummy plug to add the extra display.

Can I send sound from my PC to the TV?

With the web sender, use Chrome or Edge: Choose Entire Screen and tick Also share system audio. Sound through the web sender is part of PRO.

Why did mirroring stop after a minute?

Free web-sender sessions are time-limited. Upgrade to PRO to remove the limit and to send sound.
